The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) COMMODITIES AND EXPORT DEPARTMENT (CED) held a one-day Pumpkin stakeholders training on GLOBAL GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES, GGAMP for exports potentials.
This first of its kind event was facilitated by the Food Safety Department of RCL Industrial Safety Centre Ltd and had major stakeholders in attendance including the national executives/members of Pumpkin Growers, Processors and marketers’ association of Nigeria as well as government agencies like FMITI, FMA&RD; SON; NEPC; NAQS, HC, MoADS; HC, MoC&IDS etc.
The topics presented were split into three to help participants align with the Global best practices focusing on export potentials and improved quality;
1. National Pumpkin potential, market opportunities, Pumpkin Seed Planting and Cultivation in line with GGAP
2. Pumpkin farm-gate, Warehouse, Value Addition and Export Chains in line with GGMP
3. Pumpkin sourcing, Logistics, Packaging and Labelling in line with GGMP
Leveraging on this event, we shine a spotlight on Nigeria’s pumpkin industry, unveiling opportunities for growth through Global Good Agricultural Practices (Global GAP) training.
1. Unlocking Global Markets: Understanding the Power of Global GAP Explore the significance of Global GAP certification for Nigerian pumpkin farmers. Learn how adhering to international standards can open doors to global markets, enhance product quality, and build trust with international buyers.

The participants were issued certificates of attendance and close communication links established for follow-up and monitoring. This will help The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) Commodities and Export Department (CED) monitor the success and growth of the participants.
